Combine Hike & Bike – The Pilgrims’ Route to Kirkjubøur – 18 km / 11 miles

Combine cycling and hiking on this unique tour from Tórshavn to the historic village of Kirkjubøur. Follow the ancient pilgrims’ path through green hills before visiting Magnus Cathedral and the traditional royal farmhouse.

We begin by cycling from Tórshavn toward the edge of the city before continuing on foot along the traditional village path to Kirkjubøur.
The trail climbs gently to a ridge about 260 meters above sea level with beautiful views across Tórshavn and the surrounding fjords. Your guide shares stories about the history of this ancient route used by travelers and clergy for centuries.
Descending toward Kirkjubøur, we walk through farmland and past traditional turf-roofed houses.
In the village we visit Magnus Cathedral, Saint Olav’s Church and the historic royal farmhouse Kirkjubøargarður.
After exploring the village, we can take the a local bus back to Tórshavn and finish the tour with a relaxed bike ride back to the city centre.
