You can turn up on the day you want to rent the bike. You don’t need to make a booking.

You must obtain a permit from the local farmer before you can cycle off-road. The best way to preserve and respect nature and the farmer is to cycle off-road with a local guide who knows the area. Then you get a suitable and unique challenge.
RENT A BIKE offers private guided off-road tours all year round.
Nature is the basis for well-being, health and business in the Faroe Islands and must be respected.

You can have a private tour planned according to your desire and level. You can go on a 2, 3, 4 or a 7 hours tour. The tour includes bike, helmets, special pedals, water, lunch (tours 4+ hours), and local guide.

Bike helmets can be rented for 50 DKK per bike. We recommend using bicycle helmets.

The bikes comes with regular pedals. You can rent pedals for road bike (SPD-SL) and pedals for MTB pedals (SPD) for 100 DKK per bike.

A bicycle lock is included in the price.

There is a spare bicycle tube and a reparation kits in a small saddle bag, so you can switch tube if there is a puncture.

If you feel bad on the trip and need medical help you must dial 112. If you feel bad on the trip and want to be transported to your place of residence you can call rentabike.fo +298 270600 and get instructions about public transport, taxi or be picked up by rentabike.fo, at you own expense.

If you don’t use the bike for all days and returns the bike, you will not get the money back. rentabike.fo recommends that you have a travel insurance.

You can pick up the bike in the shop, Sverrisgøta 20 in Tórshavn.
If you want to have the bike at another place fx. the Airport, you can book it on the website. If you want to have the bike at place that is not listed on the website, please book by email rentabike@rentabike.fo.

The blue e-bikes can go up to 120 km on one charge (Felt).
The Gravel e-bikes can go up to 80 km on one charge. (Centurion).
When renting an e-bike for multiplies days you will get a charger with you, for charging the e-bike at the place you are staying or visiting. We recommend you to charge the battery after every ride, that way your electric bike is always ready for your next outing. Switch off the battery before charging. It takes between 2 and 4 hours to charge a battery from completely empty to completely full.

We recommend you to inform you about the weather conditions before starting you trip.

Summers is cool with an average temperature of 13°C, and winters is mild, with an average temperature of 3°C. We recommend that you put on 3 layers of clothing, where the outer layer is wind and waterproof. The weather can often change within a day. Therefore, it is good to have several layers on.
If you do not have the necessary clothes, quality clothes from Endura can be bought in our store in Torshavn.

The large buses have the place to transport 1-2 bikes. The small buses must be notified of the bike the day before the trip starts, call +298 343030.
Passengers taking the bus to the island of Sandoy, can enter the bus at the tunnel start, Gomlurætt, and on the way back at the opposite tunnel start, Inni í Dal. You need to call the bus on tel. +298 770000, +298 225900 or +298 293083.

You can bike through the 19 tunnels and 4 undersea tunnels on the Faroe Islands.
It is not allowed to bike through the new Eysturoyartunnil and Sandoyar underseatunnel, but it is allowed to cycle through the Norðuroyar- and Vága underseatunnil.
Most of the 19 tunnels are “low-cost” tunnels (similar to Norway and Island).
You should always wear a helmet, have good lights, blinking lights and a reflective vest on while biking through a tunnel. You can bring your own lights and put them on, as an extra light, when cycling trough tunnels. There is no tunnel fee for the bicycle.

Some tunnels are 2 lanes, others are 1 lanes.

Please notice that “Kollfjarðartunnelin” is heavily trafficked. The tunnels on the islands Kunoy and Kalsoy are narrow, dark and low trafficked.

You can bike on the old roads and avoided going through these tunnels: “Kollafjarðartunnilin”, “Leynatunnilin”, “Norðskálatunnilin”,”Leirvíkstunnilin”, “Sumbiartunnilin” and “Dalstunnilin”.
