Description

Walk the historic pilgrims’ path from Tórshavn to Kirkjubøur on this guided hike through peaceful Faroese landscapes. Enjoy panoramic views of fjords and islands while discovering the medieval village with Magnus Cathedral and Saint Olav’s Church.

After a short drive to the edge of the capital, we follow the traditional village path once used by farmers, priests and travelers moving between Tórshavn and the bishop’s seat in Kirkjubøur.
The trail climbs gently to a grassy ridge about 260 meters above sea level, offering panoramic views over Tórshavn, nearby fjords and surrounding islands.
Descending toward Kirkjubøur, the path winds through peaceful farmland and past traditional turf-roofed houses.
In the village we visit the impressive ruins of Magnus Cathedral, Saint Olav’s Church and the historic farmhouse Kirkjubøargarður — one of the oldest continuously inhabited wooden houses in the world.
After exploring the village, we can return to Tórshavn by local bus.
